How we work

Many firms may say they offer a hands on service, but few can actually deliver it. We are proud of the relationships we have with our clients and, when we are needed, our whole team is here to help you.

We aim to offer a professional service with a human face. If you would like more information about our services, please contact us. A specimen of our standard terms and conditions can be found here and also under Document Downloads in the left hand menu.

As solicitors, we are authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). The SRA's Code of Conduct can be found at www.sra.org.uk/rules/.

Lexcel Quality Standard

We have also achieved Lexcel accreditation. Lexcel is the Law Society's practice management standard and only 7% of firms have achieved this prestigious award which demonstrates a commitment to service excellence and client-focused risk management. Firms are audited annually by an independent assessor and the audit covers areas such as client care, file management, staff supervision and training, risk management, financial planning and disaster recovery.

Complaints

Like any business, from time-to-time we receive complaints about our service. We take all complaints seriously and endeavour to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. In the first instance, please raise the issue with your legal advisor, or their supervisor as named in our client care letter. If your issue remains unresolved please contact our Client Care Partner, David Gazzard. You may also complain directly to the Legal Ombudsman. If you would like a copy of our standard complaints procedure please contact us.

Funding Options for Litigation

How much will it cost? This is often the first question we are asked by clients seeking legal assistance. And understandably so. There are a range of possible funding options available and we will discuss the best option for funding your case with you at the outset. These options include:

  • 'No win, no fee’ arrangements (Conditional Fee Agreements)
  • Contingency Fee basis (depending on the nature of the case)
  • Legal Expense insurance on existing insurance policies
  • Charging on an hourly rate basis
  • Fixed Fees (depending on the nature of the case – for example, compromise agreements in employment matters

Legal Expense Insurance: Millions of people in the UK have legal expense insurance but are not necessarily aware of it. It could meet your legal cost in full and is often added ‘free’ into policies such as:

  • car insurance
  • buildings insurance
  • contents insurance
  • travel insurance
  • pet insurance
  • additional benefits with credit cards

You may also have legal expense insurance as a result of trade union membership or other club or trade organisation memberships.

Please note: Insurers often seek to refer your case to their own panel of solicitors. However, if you are insured you have the right to choose your own independent solicitor in most cases. Please check with us if you are unsure.

In order to ensure that there are no delays in dealing with your case, please bring any insurance documents that you hold with you to your first meeting with us. You may also be covered as a family member under your partner’s or parents’ policy. Please bring these policies with you as well.

Access and Disability

We are committed to providing legal services to all clients who require them. If you have a disability please let us know how we can help you get the most from our services. This website is designed so that the text size can be changed using Internet browser settings. If you are visiting our offices and require ground floor access without steps please advise us in advance. If you cannot visit our offices we will endeavour to visit you at your home or other venue.
